Sabrent, an emerging brand in the storage field, has launched an M.2 2230 solid-state drive with a maximum capacity of 1TB, which is very suitable for Steam Deck, Microsoft Surface, some ultrabooks and Intel NUC users to upgrade.

It is worth mentioning that Steam Deck can use M.2 2242 SSD, but V agency designers warn users not to do this kind of an operation because they will cause problems such as overheating of Steam Deck and greatly shrink the handheld service life. So this retail-grade M.2 2230 SSD is very precious.

The Sabrent Rocket 2230 adopts a single-sided design and is equipped with Phison’s new E21T SSD master control and Micron’s 176-layer TLC NAND. It uses a PCIe 4.0 interface and can reach up to 5GBps. Of course, the performance will vary depending on the capacity.

When it comes to capacity, Sabrent Rocket 2230 provides three models of 256GB, 512GB and 1TB, and the TBW is 200TB, 300TB, and 600TB respectively. Steam Deck users can consider whether to change to a larger hard drive.

From the official data, the sequential read and write speeds of the 256GB model are 4,650 MBps and 1,900 MBps respectively; the 512GB model is 5,000 MBps and 3,700 MBps; the 1TB version is 4,750 MBps and 4,300 MBps respectively.

In terms of random performance, the 256GB SSD has 220,000 IOPS read and 470,000 IOPS write speeds, while the 512GB SSD has 440,000 IOPS and 920,000 IOPS, respectively; the 1TB version has 450,000 IOPS and 545,000 IOPS, respectively.

This series of hard drives have passed CE, FCVCCI, BSMI, RoHS, and UKCA certifications, with an average trouble-free time of 1,500,000 hours, support LDPC data correction, and provide a 5-year warranty. The pricing has not yet been announced.
