According to information disclosed by Computerbase forum member Crash Test, AMD’s upcoming Ryzen 7000 “Phoenix” APU based on the AM5 platform may use Zen 4 and Zen 4C large and small core hybrid architecture configurations.

Note: Some of AMD’s motherboard partners have begun pushing the latest AGESA 1.0.8.0 BIOS firmware, and it has been confirmed that the next-generation APU, codenamed Phoenix, is the first processor of the AM5 platform.

Crash Test found that the AM5 APU has a different CPU ID than the original Phoenix APU, with a CPU ID of “00A70F52” for the Phoenix Refresh chip.

The forum member also reports that the Phoenix 2 APU is numbered “00A70F80,” which is different from the number used by the original Phoenix APU’s “00A70F41.”

This indicates that AMD may not adopt the first-generation design of only one architecture IP, but will use a hybrid Phoenix core configuration on the desktop AM5 platform, mixing Zen 4 and Zen 4C cores, which can provide more efficient in the same power consumption/performance range. experience.

So far, these chips have only appeared in mainstream laptops, and the Ryzen 7000 APU could be AMD’s first hybrid-core desktop chip.
