Xiaomi is silently preparing to launch a budget-oriented entry-level smartphone under its Redmi brand. The device will be formally known as Redmi A1 and is expected to launch anytime soon. The Redmi A1, which has been said to be the toned-down version of Redmi A1+, was previously spotted on multiple certification websites which hints toward the imminent launch of the device.
Redmi A1+ spotted on IMEI Database
A Redmi handset with the model number 220733SFG was spotted in the IMEI database, and the model has been hinted to be a variation of the Redmi A1, according to a recent disclosure by a tech journalist Simranpal Singh through Twitter. Recall that Redmi A1+ has apparently been confirmed as the name of the device. Recently, the Redmi A1 appeared on many certifications and benchmarking websites. The device was discovered on Geekbench and the US Federal Communications Commission (FCC) database.
It’s looking like the brand will launch two of its new budget-oriented smartphones – Redmi A1 and Redmi A1+ very soon. According to the report, the rumoured Redmi A1 was spotted with the model number 220733SI on the BIS India website. This suggests that the device could be released in India as well. Now, according to the tipster Kacper Skrzypek (@kacskrz), the Redmi A1 will be powered by the MediaTek Helio A22 SoC. It will measure dimensions of 164.67mm in length and about 76.56mm in width.
The Redmi A1+ is expected to sit above the Redmi A1, and hence, we may see some upgraded specifications. However, there may not be any huge jump over the specifications as both of them will target the budget segment.
