Xiaomi seems to have a new budget Redmi phone on the way. the Redmi A1 (not to be mistaken for the rather old Xiaomi A1), this new model has leaked quite a bit recently. The images come from official teaser images of the device, as well as some high-quality renders showing off the phone’s form factor, as well as the leather-textured style of its back.

As for the rest of the specs, the Redmi A1 will reportedly come with a 6.52-inch, 1600 x 720-pixel resolution 20:9 HD+ display with a MediaTek Helio A22 chipset processor paired with LPDDR4X memory and eMMC 5.1 storage. Together with a 5000 mAh battery, 10W charging, dual SIM and microSD card slots, 3.5mm jack and FM radio, it will be packed into a 164.9mm x 76.75mm x 9.09mm, 192g body.

The camera module includes an 8-megapixel, f/2.0 primary camera and an f/2.2 secondary camera, the latter possibly a depth sensor. A 5-megapixel, f/2.2 image sensor is on the front. Other known features include Bluetooth 5.0 and 2.4GHz Wi-Fi n, as well as Android 12.

Last but not least, there is even a leaked photo of the device in real life. Unfortunately, it only shows its front and not the more interesting leather-style back.

There’s no word on pricing yet, but sources tell us that the Redmi A1 is the first in a series of made-in-India Redmi smartphones that will be launched globally.
