Red Flag Supercar S9 latest plan revealed: the project investment of 1 billion euros, Italy to build a factory

During the 2021 Shanghai Auto Show, Red Flag presented a supercar, the S9, which was not only stylish and powerful, but also produced by Red Flag, so it got a lot of attention, but then nothing more has been revealed. In recent news, Silk EV, the Italian startup involved in the design and manufacture of the S9, has provided FAW with an update on its plans.

SilkEV said it will continue to invest more than 1 billion euros (about 6.864 billion yuan) in the project, which includes a factory in Italy, as well as an R&D center and headquarters.

Construction of the plant, which is reportedly close to Italy’s leading sports car companies such as Ferrari, Lamborghini, Maserati and Pagani, will begin in September.

The Red Flag S9 was designed by Walter de Silva, the former design director of Volkswagen Group, who is still designing other models for Red Flag, including the rumored S7 supercar.

The concept version of the S9 will be powered by a twin-turbocharged V8 + 3-motor hybrid system with a maximum output of over 1,400 horsepower.

Thanks to the application of multiple carbon fiber material lightweight body, the Red Flag S9 0-100km/h acceleration time of 1.9 seconds, top speed of more than 400km / h, performance is not inferior to Lamborghini, Ferrari and other supercars.

Sources say the S9 will likely be priced at more than 10 million yuan, with the top model to be produced in an Italian factory and other electric models to be produced in China.

It is worth noting that the V-8 direct injection supercharged (V8TD) engine, designed by FAW itself, has completed its trial production in the pilot plant of the General Research and Development Institute, with a maximum net power of 485kW (659hp) and peak torque of 850N-m, which will be applied to the S9 model.
