Raspberry Pi Production capacity is still limited and is not easy for ordinary users to buy

0

If you are planning to buy a Raspberry Pi motherboard in the near future, unless you are willing to buy second hand, or buy at a premium through a third-party market, it is not easy to get it at the suggested retail price. Ebon Upton, head of Raspberry Pi, said that the current monthly output of Raspberry Pi is 500,000 units, and he expects that production will increase further in the next few months.

Ebon Upton also said at the time that the company was prioritizing shipments to commercial and industrial customers who needed the Raspberry Pi to run their business, acknowledging that some people’s livelihoods were at risk. This means that individual customers considering using the Raspberry Pi for home projects or prototyping may face some delays.

It’s been about five months, so what’s the current situation? During a recent YouTube live stream, anchor Jeff Geerling said he spoke with Upton and asked about it.

Upton told him that everything in the April post is still valid, which means they are still subject to supply constraints and are still prioritizing OEM customers who need them to do business. However, he also said that he is working hard to supply the Raspberry Pi to ordinary users.

However, if ordinary users really need the Raspberry Pi very much, Gerlin recommends that the user directly send an electronic right button to the Raspberry Pi to explain the current situation, and perhaps the Raspberry Pi will consider giving priority to delivery as appropriate.
