During the release of Galaxy S23, Samsung revealed that it is developing a mixed reality XR headset device and will launch it in the future. The company also announced that its XR devices will use Google’s platform and Qualcomm’s chipsets.

Recently, Hugo Swart, general manager and vice president of XR at Qualcomm, revealed in an interview with ETNews that the company plans to launch the next XR chip in the first quarter of 2024, which means we will see the chipset before the end of March 2024 of release.

This time point coincides with the regular release time of the Samsung Galaxy S series, so the chip may be launched around the release of the Galaxy S24. Samsung may also launch the XR head display during the Galaxy S24 series launch.

Swart said, “2024 will be a year of comprehensive growth for virtual reality (VR) and augmented reality (AR) devices, and it is expected to continue to grow in the next 2 to 5 years,” adding, “We will continue to grow in pharmaceutical, automotive and other companies. areas of engagement, and areas where the business likes to develop partners and markets.”
