Qualcomm new test device appeared in Geekbench, equipped with “8cx Next Gen”, should be the new generation of Snapdragon 8cx Gen 4 PC processor.

Geekbench scores for the Snapdragon 8cx Gen 4 test device are not normal at the moment, but it is confirmed to be an 8+4 core design.

Summary of the information, Snapdragon 8cx Gen4 will feature 12 cores, 8 performance cores + 4 performance cores. The performance core is about 3.4GHz and the performance core is about 2.5GHz.

Other than that, the chip supports up to 64GB of LPDDR5x memory and the integrated GPU is Adreno 740, the same GPU as in Snapdragon 8 Gen2, offering DirectX 12, Vulkan 1.3, OpenCL and DirectML support. The processor supports discrete GPUs connected via eight PCIe 4.0 lanes, as well as PCIe 4.0 SSDs and UFS 4.0 flash memory. For IO, the chip supports two USB 3.1 10Gbps ports, and three USB 4 (Thunderbolt 4) ports with DisplayPort 1.4a support. In addition, the chip’s display output has been greatly improved, the chip can output up to 5K + 4K + 4K resolution at the same time.

Qualcomm has been testing the Snapdragon 8cx Gen4 with a 10-inch screen development device since November 2022, which could mean that Qualcomm intends to use the Snapdragon 8cx Gen4 processor in a small-screen laptop or 2-in-1 device, sources said.
