Qualcomm held today at the Snapdragon Summit, officially announced the cross-platform technology Snapdragon Seamless, which can achieve seamless connectivity across multiple devices across multiple operating systems, sharing peripherals and data.
Qualcomm said it has now partnered with Microsoft, Google, Xiaomi, Asus, Honor, Lenovo and OPPO to create a multi-device experience powered by Snapdragon Seamless and is expected to arrive on device platforms around the world as early as this year.
The technology allows Snapdragon devices running Android, Windows, and other systems to discover and share information with each other to operate as an integrated system.
According to the Deloitte Connected Consumer Survey 2023, each U.S. household now owns an average of 21 different digital devices, and communication between them tends to be less seamless, especially devices from different manufacturers. This reduces consumer choice and creates lock-in, making consumers feel like they can only choose one manufacturer so their devices can work together.
With Snapdragon Seamless, device manufacturers and operating system partners can enhance and extend the consumer’s multi-device experience, and the application scenarios based on Qualcomm’s blog post:
Mice and keyboards can work seamlessly across computers, phones and tablets.
Files and windows can be dragged and dropped across different types of devices.
Headphones can be intelligently switched according to the priority of the audio source.
