Sony for the PlayStation 5 specifically created for the high-end virtual reality headset PS VR2 launched earlier this year, by the industry’s praise, in the field of headset provides a different kind of experience.

However, due to its high launch price of $599 (currently around RMB 4,283) (more expensive than the PS5 digital version which starts at $399) and relatively few exclusive games, PS VR2 has not done very well in the market so far. If the PS VR2 is PC-compatible, it has the potential to attract more consumers.

However, despite Sony’s increased investment in the PC gaming market, there is no official word yet that the PS VR2 will support PCs. unofficially, the first generation of the PlayStation VR has already achieved compatibility with PCs through SteamVR drivers like iVRy. The driver’s author initially didn’t think the PS VR2 would be able to do the same. But in just a few short months, iVRy has managed to crack the hardware certification and ignite the hopes of the VR community. Two weeks ago, iVRy delivered another exciting piece of news: playing the PS VR2 on a PC was possible, but it would require some additional hardware that would still need to be designed and produced.

Just a few hours ago, iVRy delivered another update: the tracking built into the PS VR2 is now working properly on PCs, stating that “PSVR2 tracking is ‘done’ and now has full 6DOF headset tracking in SteamVR with 2000Hz IMU and 60Hz SLAM, just like PS5.”

Of course, there’s still a lot of work to be done before the PS VR2 headset is fully PC-compatible, and iVRy also revealed that he’d like to add eye tracking at a later date.
