Italian luxury fashion brand Prada announced that it will cooperate with Axiom Space to design and develop NASA’s next-generation lunar spacesuit for the upcoming Artemis III lunar mission in 2025.

It is noted that in a joint statement, the luxury fashion brand announced that its engineers will work with Axiom Space’s space systems team to design and develop the new Axiom extravehicular mobility unit (AxEMU) spacesuit.

The next-generation spacesuit has been described as a revolutionary “major milestone” in space exploration, opening up new frontiers for luxury fashion brands.

“Prada’s technical expertise in raw materials, manufacturing technologies and innovative design concepts will make an important contribution to the advanced technologies required to ensure astronauts’ comfort on the lunar surface and the lack of human factors considerations in traditional spacesuits,” said Axiom Space Chief said executive officer Michael Suffredini.

This next-generation spacesuit is designed to protect crew members from the “challenges unique to space and the lunar environment” while providing “greater flexibility” and “better protection” from the harsh lunar environment .

“Utilizing innovative technology and design, these spacesuits will enable exploration of the lunar surface deeper than ever before,” Axiom Space said.

The 2025 Artemis 3 lunar mission will be the first since 1971, with NASA aiming to put “the first woman and first person of color” on the lunar surface. They will stay on the moon for a week and then return to Earth.

Before Artemis 3 departs in 2025, Artemis 2 will carry four crew members on a “lunar flight” mission, including the first woman and the first person of color who will eventually land on the moon. kind.
