Porotech launched World’s First Monolithic Full Color Micro LED Display for AR

Porotech has launched the world’s first single-panel full-color display suitable for augmented reality (AR) applications. The display is 0.26 inches in size and can support a resolution of 1280×720.

This single-panel full-color display uses Micro LED technology with a pitch of 3.5 microns for each pixel. Through a proprietary driving method developed by Porotech, the display can quickly display red, green and blue light to achieve full-color RGB display and rich Saturated colors.

Micro LED technology is the general direction of display development in the future. It is widely used in displays, ranging from Samsung’s 1.1 million yuan display “The Wall”, to Apple’s upcoming AR/VR headset.

Note: Micro LED technology refers to the display technology that uses self-illuminating micron-scale LEDs as light-emitting pixel units and assembles them on the drive panel to form a high-density LED array, which can provide more accurate colors and high contrast. For improved HDR and viewing in sub-optimal lighting conditions, support viewing from wider angles, less chance of screen burn-in than technologies such as OLED, faster response time, lower latency, and support for a higher number of frames.
