Pixel Tablet is coming with stylus input support

0

At the recently held Google I/O 2022, Google revealed several upcoming devices, including the Pixel tablet. But the company didn’t reveal much about its upcoming tablet, except for a few renders and a vague description. But it seems like the Pixel tablet will support stylus input as a Google tablet was certified by the Universal Stylus Initiative (USI).

Pixel Tablet USI Listing

USI has listed the device with the Tangor name. The Tangor is a type of citrus fruit, and it is clearly a codename, but there is no idea why Google has chosen this name. But this confirms much-speculated suspicion that a Google tablet is under development, the Pixel Tablet. However, the tablet won’t be released anytime soon. The expected release is in 2023.

USI has created the standards for styluses that are followed by the brands. Now, Google isn’t the newest member of the USI. The company has been a member since 2018 as some of the Chromebooks also have stylus support. There’s a list and you can find it on the official website.

Official Pixel Tablet Render

At the moment, there aren’t any tablets that provide support for the USI stylus. A version 2.0 of its standard was revealed which included a system for wireless charging of the stylus via NFC Wireless Charging (WLC 2.0). The transfer rate will be up to 1W. The new version is also equipped with tilt detection. Although, it is still not clear, which version of the USI standard Google will be using on the Google tablet. Hopefully, more details will be revealed within the coming year.
