Orange Pi to launch its first handheld: 6800U/7840U and RK3588

Orange Pi officially confirmed that it will launch its first handheld product during National Day.

According to official confirmation, the Orange Pi handheld is available in Windows and Linux versions, with the Windows version powered by the AMD R7 6800U or AMD R7 7840U processor and the Linux version powered by the RK3588 processor from Rexchip.

The renders released show the handheld with an Xbox-like handle layout and Orange Pi’s signature orange and black color scheme. The handheld features a 7-inch screen and is tentatively scheduled to go on sale during the Fourth of July (October 1) in 2023, with no official pricing announced yet.

AMD R7 7840U processor with 780M powerful core graphics, has become the processor of choice for many new generation handhelds, in the 3DMark test, Radeon 780M core graphics with LPDDR5X-6400 memory performance between RTX 2050 and GTX 1650 Ti.

The AMD R7 6800U is a common processor for last-generation handhelds, with a 6nm Zen3+ CPU core architecture and a 680M core with RDNA2 architecture.

Rexchip RK3588 is a high-performance ARM architecture chip launched at the end of 2021 with 8nm process, ARM Mali-G610 MC4 GPU, and 4Cortex-A76 + 4Cortex-A55 octa-core CPU, so it can also be used as an Android handheld.
