OPPO’s second self-developed chip will be released soon

As early as 2019, OPPO announced that it would invest 50 billion yuan in cutting-edge technology research and development in three years, and proposed a 3+N+X technology transition strategy in 2020, of which 3 represents OPPO’s three core technologies-Mariana and Pantanal, Andes, respectively corresponding to OPPO’s chip business, software engineering and cloud services.

OPPO’s first self-developed chip Mariana MariSilicon X will be released at the 2021 Future Technology Conference. As OPPO’s first video-specific NPU, Mariana MariSilicon X uses a 6nm process and has a computing power of 18 TOPS. It is equipped with Find X5 series, Reno8 series, Reno9 series and other models.

Chen Mingyong, founder and CEO of OPPO, once said that technology companies must solve key problems through key technologies, and will continue to invest resources in the future, using a team of thousands of people to make self-developed chips down-to-earth.

It is reported that in October 2019, the OPPO Mariana self-developed chip team was initially established. At present, the team has thousands of people and is still under construction and expansion. In November 2022, Liu Bo, vice president of OPPO and president of China, revealed in an interview that the shipment of Mariana MariSilicon X has exceeded 10 million, and additional orders have been placed since then.
