Xiaomi officially released an important notice on the 64-bit adaptation time node of the Gold Standard Alliance today (3). From July 1, 2023, mainstream app stores such as OPPO, Vivo, and Xiaomi will gradually clean up only 32-bit applications that are supported.

Xiaomi officially stated that starting in 2023, new Arm-based Android phones will only support 64-bit and no longer support 32-bit installation. Most applications have completed 64-bit adaptation. As of March 30, 2023, the adaptation rate of Top1w applications in mainstream application stores such as OPPO, Vivo, and Xiaomi has reached 93%, and the adaptation rate of all applications has reached 90%.

In order to better improve the compatibility experience of Android applications and prevent applications from being unable to be installed and used on machines that only support 64 bits in the second half of 2023, Gold Standard Alliance members OPPO, Vivo, Xiaomi (sorted by initials, in no particular order), etc. Mainstream app stores will further implement restrictions on 32-bit apps (including various financial, office, and game apps).  From October 1, 2022, applications other than games will no longer allow 32-bit application packages to be updated separately, and can support compatibility package or dual-package updates.

 From December 1, 2022, game applications will no longer allow separate updates of 32-bit packages, and must support compatibility package or dual-package updates.

 Applications that have not been adapted by then will not be able to be put on the shelves and updated separately, and the mobile chip platform will also weaken and stop supporting 32-bit applications, and the consequences are unpredictable.
