OpenMandriva Lx 23.03 released: with Linux 6.2 kernel, Mesa 23 and more

The OpenMandriva team recently released OpenMandriva Lx 23.03, a new update installation of the “ROME” rolling release of OpenMandriva Lx that incorporates some of the latest technologies.

This release upgrades the kernel to the latest Linux 6.2, ships with the KDE Plasma 5.27 LTS desktop environment family, comes with KDE Frameworks 5.104 and the KDE Gear 22.12.3 software suite, and features new Flatpak generic and sandboxed binary format support.

Most importantly, OpenMandriva Lx 23.03 comes with the latest Mesa 23 graphics stack, Wayland 1.21.0, XOrg Server 21.1.7, LLVM / Clang 15.0.7, GNU Binutils 2.40, GCC 12.2, GNU C Library 2.37, systemd 253 and Calamares 3, systemd 253 and Calamares 3.2.61 graphical installer.

The various applications included have also been updated to the latest version. In this version, users can use LibreOffice 7.5.1 Office Suite, Firefox 111 and Chromium 110 browsers, Krita 5.1.5, digiKam 7.9 and GIMP 2.10.34 image editors, Calligra Suite 3.2.1, SMPlayer 22.7. 0 and VLC 3.0.18 video player, VirtualBox 7.0.6, etc.

The GNOME version is GNOME 43.3 and the LXQt version is LXQt 1.2. The team at OpenMandriva recently announced that the LXQt desktop is a new version of ROME and Cooker variants and is a great choice for users with older hardware.
