One UI 5.0 beta, based on Android 13, finally available on Galaxy S22 devices

The wait for the One UI 5.0 beta is finally coming to an end, as Samsung has decided to launch the One UI 5.0 beta for Galaxy S22 devices. Of course, this beta is a bit later than we expected, but it’s safe to say that users will be happy to try the new Android version on their smartphones.

The One UI 5.0 beta was built on top of Android 13 and the new update does bring a lot of new features, although not a lot of cosmetic changes. Simply put, in Android 13, Google is focused on keeping the focus on security rather than going for another cosmetic overhaul, and the update is currently rolling out to users in Germany.

Galaxy S22 users in Germany can finally sign up for the Android-13-based One UI 5.0 beta program

Samsung still hasn’t detailed everything about One UI 5.0, but the Galaxy Unpacked launch is likely to have a lot of updates to offer by then, and an official announcement about the beta program should come later this week.

The One UI 5.0 beta does bring some changes from the looks of it as well, such as the notification center now has larger app icons, a translucent background design has been added, the app permission pop-ups have been changed, full optical character recognition has been added, and the speed and smoothness of animations have been significantly improved.

As expected, the One UI 5.0 beta will be rolled out in phases and is currently only available for the Galaxy S22 series. We hope that over time, Samsung will extend support for the latest update to other phones.
