According to a report from the Financial News Agency, at the 2023 Omdia China Display Industry Seminar held in Shanghai today, Omdia Display Research Chief Analyst Guo Zijiao revealed that in addition to BOE, Apple may also introduce An OLED supplier. After the meeting, an industry chain person also confirmed the news to reporters.

In addition, the current major domestic suppliers of small and medium-sized OLEDs include BOE, Visionox, and Shentianma.

Referring to previous reports, Korean media The Elec quoted supply chain sources as saying on September 14 that Apple initially purchased 10 million OLED panels for the iPad. In addition, Apple plans to launch 11-inch and 12.9-inch iPad Pro with OLED panels in the middle of next year, with initial purchase orders of 6 million pieces for the 11-inch and 4 million pieces for the 12.9-inch.

Among them, LG Display will supply 4 million 12.9-inch OLED panels and 2 million 11-inch OLED panels to Apple; Samsung Display will only supply 4 million 11-inch OLED panels.

Blogger Tech_Reve also recently revealed that Apple is testing 27-inch and 32-inch OLED panels, which are expected to be used in next-generation iMac devices. Since the launch of the original Apple Watch in 2014, Apple has been promoting the upgrade of screens for iPads, Macs and other products to OLED panels.

The source also revealed that Apple is developing a 20-inch OLED screen MacBook, which will further expand the MacBook product line. Apple is expected to upgrade the 14-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pro to use OLED panels in 2026/2027.

In August this year, the American technology media The Information reported that due to Sony’s limited supply capacity, Apple is “evaluating” the possibility of using BOE and Shiya Technology as Micro-OLED display suppliers for the future Vision Pro, involving the new generation of Vision Pro and internal A “low-priced head display” code-named N109, which is currently in the early stages of development. Foreign media pointed out that introducing a second or third supplier for Vision Pro could significantly increase production and help Apple reduce the future basic cost of its hardware.
