OLED panels for Apple’s iPad Pro to start mass production in February next year

According to Korean media Korea Herald, the OLED screen designed for Apple’s next-generation iPad Pro will begin mass production in February 2024.

Citing the media report that LG Display’s factory in Paju, Gyeonggi Province plans to mass-produce OLED screens as soon as February next year to meet Apple’s iPad Pro demand, which is about three months earlier than previously expected.

Reports say that the single-piece price of these screens is three times the price of an iPhone, so switching to the client, Apple may increase the price of iPad products.

The current 11-inch iPad Pro has an LCD panel, while the 12.9-inch model has a mini-LED backlight for increased brightness and higher contrast. OLED technology will eliminate the need for backlights, with benefits including higher contrast and deeper blacks, lower power consumption and more.

Apple is expected to use a very thin hybrid OLED display that combines flexible and rigid materials, which could reduce the thickness of the next iPad Pro models.

In addition to OLED display technology, the next iPad Pro model is expected to feature a slightly larger screen, an M3 chip, and a redesigned Magic Control accessory.
