Yesterday, @panzerlied exposed the benchmark results of the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4080 16GB on the ChipHell forum. Although it is not clear whether the graphics card used for the benchmark is the Founders Editon (public version) or the non-public SKU of AIB partners, it is known that on the AMD Ryzen R7-5800X3D processor platform, its performance is more than 20% higher than the previous generation.

First up is the AIDA64 GPGPU Benchmark, the RTX 4080 16GB with up to 53.6 TFLOPs of single-precision performance — 8% higher than the official 49 TFLOPs.

For reference, the previous-gen RTX 3090 Ti flagship graphics card had 40 TFLOPs of single-precision performance, so here the RTX 4080 16GB leads by 32.5%.

Second, the RTX 4080 16GB scored 17465 / 17607 points in the 3DMark “Time Spy Extreme” and “Port Royal” benchmarks, respectively.

For reference, WCCFTech shared the MSI RTX 3090 Ti SUPRIM X “Super Dragon” flagship graphics card with a “Time Spy Extreme” score of 11643 points.

In the 3DMark “Fire Strike Ultra” benchmark test project, the RTX 3090 Ti Chaolong scored 13554 / 15124 points, respectively.

Comparing the above data of the RTX 4080 16GB with the RTX 3090 Ti 24GB graphics card, we can see the following improvements:

"Time Spy Extreme" - 20% ahead

Fire Strike Ultra - 29% lead

Port Royal (DXR) - 16% ahead"

Then, the whistleblower also shared the “Red Dead Redemption” switch DLSS deep learning super-sampling and the “Tomb Raider” full high DLSS quality game performance benchmark data.

In terms of specifications, the RTX 4080 16GB graphics card is said to use a stripped-down version of the AD103-300 GPU core, enabling 76/9728 CUDA cores out of 84 SM units, complemented by 48MB L2 cache and a lower ROP raster unit.

The card is also expected to use a PG136/139-SKU360 PCB with a peak clock frequency of 2505 MHz. With 16GB @ 256-bit 22.5 Gbps GDDR6X memory (720 GB/s bandwidth), the nominal TBP power consumption is 320W.

Compared to the 350W RTX 3080 12GB, the RTX 4080 16GB consumes 30W less power while outperforming the higher TBP-powered RTX 3090 Ti. Finally, the RTX 4080 16/12GB graphics cards will be available in November, priced at $1199/$899 respectively.
