Nomura Securities (Nomura) analysts said in a memo provided to clients on Monday that Apple’s iPhone 15 models to be launched next year will be more “balanced” in standard and Pro models, and Apple will avoid the situation of being biased towards Pro models like the iPhone 14 series.

Nomura analysts said that the mid-to-high-end Pro models of the iPhone 14 series accounted for between 65% and 70% of revenue, while the sales of standard models were weak, which eventually led to a decline in overall shipments. In the upcoming iPhone 15 models, Apple will further adjust the configuration and combination of these models to make them more balanced.

Analysts also said that Apple will further widen the configuration gap between standard models and Pro models in the iPhone 15 series, and hopes to drive more consumers to upgrade to iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus models.

The analyst also highlighted the following in the memo:

  1. The iPhone 15 standard model will also be equipped with the Dynamic Island function, using a circular and pill-punched LTPS OLED screen, the iPhone 15 is 6.1 inches, and the iPhone 15 Plus is 6.7 inches
  2. The main camera of the iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus will be upgraded to 48 million pixels, and the image sensor size will be 1/1.5 inches (slightly smaller than the sensor size of the iPhone 14 Pro, but the image quality will be much better than the 12 million pixels of the iPhone 14 )
  3. The iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus will use a 4nm A16 chip (the iPhone 14 will use a 5nm A15 chip)
  4. iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Ultra (or iPhone 15 Pro Max) are of little significance to upgrade for users who already own iPhone 14 Pro models. They are mainly equipped with periscope cameras, 8GB of memory and tactile feedback buttons.
