According to the 5G Advancement Group, Nokia Bell has successfully completed the 5G Enhanced Technology Development Test (ETRT) millimeter wave FR2-only network function test under the guidance of the IMT-2020 (5G) Advancement Group, achieving peak rates of 6.8Gbps downlink and 2.1Gbps uplink.

In this test, Nokia Bell used commercial-grade millimeter-wave base station products supporting up to 800MHz bandwidth and millimeter-wave CPE terminals equipped with Qualcomm Snapdragon X65 5G modem to verify in the lab the downlink 4x200MHz carrier aggregation, uplink 2x200MHz carrier aggregation, frame structure with different upstream and downstream ratios (DDDSU and DSUUU), adaptive modulation and coding (downlink 256QAM), CSI measurement and feedback, multi-antenna technology, beam management, FR2 only networking function and RRC layer protocol basic function, etc. The expected results were achieved, fully proving the technological leadership of Nokia Bell’s millimeter wave base station equipment in all aspects of function, performance and product form.

Since 2019, Nokia Bell has been actively participating in the millimeter wave trials of the IMT-2020 (5G) advancement group, validating key technologies in different networking modes (NSA, NR-DC, FR2 only).

Under the guidance of IMT-2020 (5G) Promotion Group, Nokia Bell will continue to conduct FR2 only group network field tests to prepare for millimeter wave commercialization and rollout in China.
