Nissan reaches agreement with Tesla to adopt North American charging standards from 2025

Nissan announced on July 19 with Tesla reached an agreement to adopt the North American Charging Standard (NACS) from 2025, aiming to provide more choices for Nissan owners of electric vehicle charging.

Nissan will offer NACS charging adapters for Ariya models, which are currently equipped with the CCS1 adapter for DC fast charging, which will allow owners to connect their vehicle’s charging ports to NACS plugs on compatible chargers.

Beginning in 2025, Nissan will begin offering EVs with NACS ports for the U.S. and Canadian markets, which will significantly increase the number of public fast-charging locations where Nissan EVs can be charged.

As part of its “Ambition 2030,” Nissan aims to have more than 40 percent of its U.S. vehicle sales be purely electric by 2030, with even more vehicles going electric.
