At the beginning of this month, NIO announced that it would enter the four countries of Germany, the Netherlands, Denmark and Sweden with a “subscription model”, providing three models of ET7, EL7 (ES7) and ET5. The vehicle subscription period starts from 1 Month to 60 months. This plan has been interpreted by the industry as a sales model of “only renting, not selling”.

In this regard, Li Bin, chairman of Weilai, responded: “At the press conference, it was only said that the lease would be provided, but it was not said that it would not be sold. This is actually a step-by-step process, because in the early stage if these models were to be developed together kind of hard.”

NIO Europe announced that it will add ET7, EL7 and ET5 buyout models in addition to the subscription model in Germany, the Netherlands, Denmark and Sweden on November 21, with delivery, starting in early 2023. This means that users in the above four countries will be able to buy out or subscribe to own NIO models according to their own circumstances.

The information on the Weilai European App shows that the delivery of subscribers has been started in the above-mentioned four countries.

Depending on the length of subscription, European users can choose to lease the NIO ET7, ET7, 75 gigawatt-hour battery pack at a price of 1,199 euros to 1,295 euros (about 8,308 yuan to 8,974 yuan) per month. For EL7 (ES7) and ET5 cars, the minimum subscription period is one month.

NIO has previously allowed customers to rent batteries rather than buy them. The battery is currently the most expensive component of an electric vehicle. At the same time, instead of charging the car at home, NIO owners can drive the car to a battery replacement station and replace it with a new battery pack in minutes to save time.
