The ratings summarize that Super Mario Bros: Marvel is a platformer in which players take control of characters from the Mario universe in an attempt to stop the villainous Bowser. Players traverse whimsical environments while jumping on the heads of enemies, hurling projectiles/objects at them, or throwing small fireballs to knock them off the screen. Boss battles include more battles with giant enemies that breathe fire and smash parts of the scenery.
The ESRB classification system is based on the content of the game:
