Switch’s successor model rumours intensified, but Nintendo will not stop the development of the current Switch game support. According to IGN News, Nintendo president Shuntaro Furukawa said in an interview with Nikkei News that it will continue to provide game support for the current Switch model until March 31, 2025.

Shuntaro Furukawa said that in the short term, Nintendo will focus on maintaining the momentum of The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom and Super Mario Bros. Movie, as well as making sure to satisfy first-time Switch console buyers and “a group of users who want to switch to a new console.”

In addition, Nintendo is also currently developing a number of games, including “Paper Mario: Gate of the Millennium HD remake”, “Princess Peach: Showtime!” released in March, and “Luigi’s Yokai 2 HD remake” scheduled for release in the summer of 2024.

On several occasions Nintendo is expected to launch its next-generation Switch console next year, having earlier made development kits available to partner studios, and IGN currently sees the console’s release window as the second half of next year.
