News about Nintendo’s next-generation Switch game console has been emerging recently, and a lot of revelations point to its release in the first half of next year.

In an interview with Nihon Keizai Shimbun, Nintendo President Shuntaro Furukawa said: There is currently no comment on the specifics of subsequent models, but they are still continuing to conduct hardware research and development, and will continue to focus on until March 2024. Nintendo Switch Business.

Whether it’s “after Switch” or whenever, the most important thing for us is whether we can deliver what our customers really want.

Regarding the life cycle of Nintendo Switch, Furukawa Shuntaro replied: We are still developing Nintendo Switch software for the next fiscal year (before March 2025).

While the momentum is still maintained, we will be committed to continuing to expand the Switch business. This fiscal year, we hope that the momentum of "Zelda" and movies will continue, and we will have a successful year-end business war. As for hardware, it will not only maximize new demand, but also expand the demand for "second units" and replacements.

Regarding the increase of developers in the headquarters, he said:

The resources required for individual game development are constantly increasing, and we must strengthen our own development system. If you want to develop a game that meets Nintendo's expectations, it's not just about increasing the number of people. Therefore, rather than shifting resources outside the company, we must strengthen internal development resources that deeply understand Nintendo's DNA and brand philosophy.

Although I do not deny the usefulness of M&A (mergers and acquisitions), if an organization that does not understand Nintendo’s philosophy joins, it may not produce the expected results. On the other hand, if there is a company with a similar development concept to Nintendo, we hope to establish various cooperative relationships instead of simply acquiring them.

It is worth mentioning that Tom Henderson, a well-known whistleblower in the industry, previously revealed on the X platform that “in the next 12 to 18 months, many games will be simultaneously launched on the XSX, PS5, Switch2 and PC platforms.”
