Japanese camera manufacturer Nikon is pulling out from the SRL market. In an official release, the company noted this improvement in the processes of its business. But, what will make the Japanese tech company shift away from producing SLR cameras?

One big reason for this shift is the dominance of mirrorless camera alternatives. The reign of SLR cameras is coming to an end as the market shifts to a better option. But this switch to a new camera type doesn’t mean that the company is putting SLRs in the dustbin.

In the meantime, Nikon will continue with the production of its existing SLR models. There will be no additions to the existing models, all new models will be mirrorless. Users who desire to buy SLR cameras will still be able to purchase them via the company’s site or any dealer.

But why are mirrorless cameras proving to be a better option than SLR cameras? Well, DSLR models which are of the latter group offer long-lasting batteries and take better low-light shots. But, what is all of that in comparison with the portability, higher shutter speed, and video quality of the mirrorless cameras? Most times, the choice of which camera suits a user boils down to the said user.

The market seems to have a unanimous choice as to which camera is preferable. Not so shocking, the larger number of buyers tend to shift toward mirrorless cameras. This in effect makes big names like Nikon change their priorities to suit the market demands.

With the rise in vlogging and taking high-speed shots, mirrorless cameras are winning. The downside of these new generation cameras is that they do not come with interchangeable lenses. Their setup is similar to that of regular smartphone cameras. We will wait to see what various camera manufacturers like Nikon have to offer with next-generation mirrorless cameras.
