According to Nikonrumors, Nikon will officially authorize third-party lens makers to launch autofocus lenses for the Z-mount, provided that they complement Nikon’s current lens lineup and do not compete with existing Nikkor Z lenses.
The Z-mount is a new generation of Nikon’s micro-single camera mount with a large diameter mount design for improved optical performance. Nikon’s current Z6, Z7, Z9 and Z50 Z30 series cameras all use the Z-mount.
Nikon’s own Z-mount lens portfolio is gradually improving, with eight new products expected to be released in 2023, including two APS-C format Z-mount lenses and six full-frame Z-mount lenses.
