According to Nikon’s official news, Nikon today released a new firmware version 1.30 for the retro micro single Z FC, with the following updates.

Added [Save Focus Position] and [Recall Focus Position] to the functions that can be specified using Custom Settings f2 [Custom Control (Shooting)] in the [Custom Settings Menu]. As of November 29, 2022, the following lenses support these options:

  • NIKKOR Z 70-200mm f/2.8 VR S
  • NIKKOR Z 100-400mm f/4.5-5.6 VR S
  • NIKKOR Z 400mm f/2.8 TC VR S
  • NIKKOR Z 400mm f/4.5 VR S
  • NIKKOR Z 800mm f/6.3 VR S

Improved operation of autofocus during recall memory ensures that the focus position in any focus mode will not change even if the shutter release button is pressed halfway while focus recall is in progress.

During remote recording with ML-L7, if Custom Setting a1 [AF-C Priority Selection] in [Custom Setting Menu] is selected to [Release], the camera will now focus every time the [Focus Mode] is selected to [AF-C].

The problem that sometimes caused the settings selected for Custom Setting f2 [Custom Control (Shooting)] in the [Custom Setting Menu] to not work as expected in User Setting Mode has been resolved.

The Nikon Z FC pays homage to the traditional design inspired by the classic Nikon FM2 SLR film camera released in 1982 and has the same specifications as the Z50.

The camera bears the Nikon logo from the 1970s-80s and has similar body dimensions and mechanical dials (sensitivity, shutter, exposure, etc.) to the FM2. The Z fc also has a round eyepiece, three dials and a top panel for a nostalgic feel.
