In addition, the lens has about 5.5 stops of vibration reduction (VR) while employing an internal zoom mechanism, which is claimed to “greatly increase operability”.

The main selling points of this lens are attached:

It supports a focal length range from 180mm to 600mm and weighs about 1955g.

The closest focusing distance at the maximum wide-angle position is about 1.3 meters, allowing close-up shots of flowers and insects beneath the user's feet.

Vibration Reduction (VR) performance is equivalent to about 5.5 stops faster shutter speed, which is effective in reducing blur in dimly lit environments and/or when shooting handheld.

The use of a stepping motor (STM) ensures fast and quiet autofocus.

The use of an internal zoom device improves zoom stability.

The four lens Fn buttons on the front of the lens barrel can be assigned a variety of functions to support operation during handheld shooting.

The lens hood has a locking button to ensure the lens hood is securely attached.

The front lens also features an anti-fouling fluorine coating to remove dust and dirt.

Offering smooth operation and a clickless control ring that reduces operating noise, as well as a design that considers breathing effect suppression, it is suitable for video recording.

Excellent resolution is maintained when using the Z Teleconverter TC-1.4× or Z Teleconverter TC-2.0×, which extends the maximum focal length to 840mm or 1200mm respectively.

Uses 6 low-dispersion lenses to compensate for chromatic aberration.
