July 12, 2011 – Apple announced last month that it will bring new ad formats to the App Store so that developers have more opportunities to promote their apps to iPhone and iPad users.

The company said the new ads in the App Store’s Today tab will be rolled out for users in July, and a large number of users have already seen these new ads on their iPhones today.

While Apple has placed ads in the App Store before, most users didn’t find them very perceptible until these new ads appeared in the Today tab on the App Store homepage.

Additionally, Apple has adopted a more compact look for the ads so that users don’t have to scroll back and forth to get full visibility. The new ad format will reportedly include the app’s icon, name, and subtitle, as well as an “Ads” tab and a “Get” button.

The first thing you’ll see when you open the App Store is that the Today tab clearly says “Ad” or “Advertisements” underneath, and it doesn’t require users to scroll to see the full ad.

With Today tab ads, your app can appear prominently on the App Store home page,” Apple said, explaining to developers that “the new format will be simplified to show only the app icon, name, and subtitle. “.

Because this new ad format is simpler, with no distracting information such as screenshots or details, ads placed in this card are more likely to be approved.

When you click on the ad it jumps to a customized product page that shows relevant content submitted by the advertiser. Of course, Apple will still need to review the ad’s icon, name, and subtitle, and icons or names deemed “violent, offensive, sexually suggestive, or otherwise inappropriate” won’t be able to appear in these ads.

It’s worth noting that this new ad format is only available on iPhones running iOS 16.4 or later, and for now this new spot is still unavailable on the iPad.

According to a report released by Apple last month, the App Store ecosystem generated $1.1 trillion (currently about RMB 7.93 trillion) in 2022, an increase of 29% year-over-year.

Last year, Chinese developers generated $523 billion in total turnover and sales from the sale of physical goods and services, $25 billion from in-app advertising, and another $21 billion from digital goods and services, according to estimates by Arnold Analysts.

“We are inspired and energized by the remarkable community of developers around the world,” said Tim Cook, CEO of Apple. Apple CEO Tim Cook said, “As this report shows, the App Store is a vibrant and creative marketplace of opportunity. We remain committed to supporting the success of developers and the future of the App ecosystem.”
