New job posting shows Valve appears to be developing a new VR headset

For those in the VR device market looking for relatively inexpensive hardware, there are actually a lot of options, and it’s clear that more will emerge in the coming months and even years. Of course, if you don’t care too much about price, nothing can beat the Valve Index as far as hardware strength is concerned – and it seems that Valve will continue to develop for the VR hardware market.

According to Upload VR, Valve has posted a job listing for a computer vision software engineer position that seems to indicate the company may be working on a new virtual reality headset device.

The job posting reads, “We’re looking for versatile, autonomous software engineers in computer vision to help us take the next step in VR, which has millions of customers worldwide.” “The primary responsibility of this position is to prototype, deliver and support consumer gaming products using visual-inertial tracking (HMDs and controllers), camera transfer, environmental understanding, eye tracking and manual tracking.”

Valve has had great success in the hardware market recently, particularly with the release of Steam Deck earlier this year, and while the company has made it clear in the past that it will continue to invest in VR, it remains to be seen whether it will balance the two or focus on Steam Deck.
