Netflix has no current plans to develop a native app for Vision Pro headset

According to Bloomberg reports, Apple’s upcoming virtual reality headset Apple Vision Pro in the market may not have Netflix’s native application, allegedly the video streaming service provider currently has no plans to develop custom applications for Apple’s headset.

The Apple Vision Pro will offer users a more immersive experience, including apps for streaming video. Bloomberg reporter Mark Gurman revealed in Sunday’s Power On newsletter that he’s been told that Netflix has “no plans to develop a native app for the Vision Pro at this time”.

While Netflix may not offer a native app, it will still offer some level of video streaming. Since Apple claims that developers can easily convert iPad apps to work with the Apple Vision Pro, it’s likely that Netflix will at least convert its tablet version of the app to work with the headset.

Netflix already offers more immersive streaming experiences on other VR platforms, such as the Meta Quest series, where the Netflix app offers a cosy virtual room complete with knickknacks and furniture, and of course a large virtual TV.
