MSI Technology announced the launch of the new Z790 MAX series and B760 M-ATX new motherboards, including the MEG series, MPG series, MAG series and PRO series.
Official pricing information has not yet been announced, only that it is expected to go on sale in late September.
MSI Z790 MAX
MSI Z790 MAX series motherboards provide considerable power supply specifications. For example, the flagship MEG Z790 GODLIKE MAX uses 26 channels of 105A smart power supply, while the entry-level PRO Z790-A MAX WIFI uses 16 channels of 80A smart power supply;
In addition, the Z790 MAX series motherboards also have a new design. All models of this series of motherboards support “Wi-Fi 7” wireless networks, with network bandwidth doubled to 320MHz and a maximum theoretical speed of up to 5.8 Gbps.
In addition, the MAG and above series (MEG / MPG) motherboards in Z790 MAX fully support PCIe 5.0 M.2 and are equipped with tool-free installation of M.2 Frost Armor, and the MEG series is also equipped with a magnetic design at the M.2 position.
MSI says that all Z790 MAX models in the MEG/MPG series will use the newly introduced JAF pins, allowing users to connect ARGB and fan wires with just one cable.
MSI displayed a new USB 4.0 PD100W expansion card at the Computex 2023 computer show in May this year, and this card was also installed on the MSI MPG Z790 CARBON MAX WIFI dark motherboard.
This USB 4.0 PD100W expansion card uses the PCIe 4.0 x4 interface, provides 2 USB 4.0 and 2 DP 1.4 interfaces, and can also provide connections up to 40Gbps, and also supports the transmission needs of devices compatible with a maximum power of 100W.
MEG series
The new MEG series has two models to choose from, MEG Z790 GODLIKE MAX and MEG Z790 ACE MAX. Compared with the previous generation MEG Z790 motherboard, it has been further optimized and upgraded.
The MEG Z790 MAX series supports up to 26 (105A)+2 smart power supply and uses an aluminium alloy fin VRM heat sink, U-shaped VRM heat sink, cross heat pipe and 7W/mk thermal pad. It is also equipped with 128GB/s PCIe5.0 and M.2.
MEG Z790 GODLIKE MAX and MEG Z790 ACE MAX also use the tool-free M.2 Frost Armor, and the Super God also has a special 4.5-inch M-Vision Dragon Soul dynamic panel, which can display system information, one-click Overclocking.
MPG series
The MPG range includes three new models: MPG Z790 CARBON MAX WIFI Dark, MPG Z790 EDGE TI MAX WIFI BLADE TITANIUM and MPG B760M EDGE TI WIFI BLADE TITANIUM, all featuring tool-less installation of M.2 Frost Armor.
This series of motherboards provide up to 19 (105A)+1+1 channels of smart power supply, and are equipped with extended heat sinks with thermal conductive heat pipes, PCIe 5.0 slots and Wi-Fi 7 wireless networks.
In addition, the MPG Z790 EDGE TI MAX WIFI Blade has also upgraded its M.2 to PCIe 5.0; while the MPG Z790 CARBON MAX WIFI Dark will be equipped with an additional USB 4.0 PD100W expansion card.
In addition, MSI also launched a B760 motherboard product belonging to the MPG series – MPG B760M EDGE TI WIFI blade titanium motherboard.
This motherboard uses 12 (75A)+1+1 smart power supplies, is equipped with an extended heat sink, supports PCIe 5.0 slots, tool-free M.2 Frost Armor, and provides 3 M.2 PCIe4.0 slots.
It also provides interfaces such as USB Gen 3.2 Gen 2 x2 Type-C and supports 2.5G wired networks and Wi-Fi 6E.
MAG series
The MAG series includes three models: MAG Z790 TOMAHAWK MAX WIFI Tomahawk Missile Motherboard, MAG B760M MORTAR WIFI II Mortar and MAG B760M MORTAR II Mortar.
MAG Z790 TOMAHAWK MAX WIFI uses 16 (90A)+1+1 channels of smart power supply and is also equipped with dual 8-pin CPU power supply interfaces. This motherboard M.2 has also been upgraded to the PCIe 5.0 specification. In addition, it is also equipped with toolless installation M.2 Frost Armor and supports a “Wi-Fi 7” wireless network.
Both mortar motherboards are M-ATX form factor, using 12 (75A)+1+1 smart power supply and 6-layer PCB, 2oz thickened copper, providing one PCIe 5.0 slot and 3 M.2 PCIe 4.0 slot, with an all-aluminum design and extended heatsink, the M.2 slot is covered with M.2 Frost Armor.
PRO series
There is only one new product in the PRO series: PRO Z790-A MAX WIFI motherboard. This product uses 16 (80A)+1+1 smart power supply, has PCIe 5.0 slot, M.2 Frost Armor, USB 3.2 Gen2 x2 Type-C interface, 2.5G network port and Wi-Fi 7 wireless network.
