Mozilla launches a venture capital fund with $35 million to support startups

The Mozilla Foundation, the development organization for Firefox, has announced the launch of the Mozilla Ventures venture capital fund in early 2023 to support startups that will drive the technology industry in a better direction.

The program is described as supporting early-stage startups whose products or technologies promote one or more of the values in the Mozilla manifesto, such as privacy, inclusion, transparency, accessibility and human dignity. Its long-term strategy is “to support an ecosystem of products and technologies that respect users and make the Internet a healthier place.

Mozilla has committed $35 million (currently about RMB 243 million) to support the fund and is currently making a small investment and talking to partners interested in co-investing in the fund.

Mozilla is a non-profit organization that develops Firefox, the Firefox browser, with the goal of making the web a sustainable service to the public, without building products and policies for profit, according to the official website.
