Mozilla officially released the Firefox 116 version update of the Firefox browser today. The official has not yet released a complete update log, but users can visit the server to download the new version.

According to reports from foreign technology media such as 9to5Linux, phoronix, and ghacks, Firefox 116 mainly introduces a volume slider for the picture-in-picture mode, improves the Ctrl-Shift-T shortcut key combination, and improves the HTTP/2 upload function.

The new version no longer supports Win7, Win8 and Win8.1, nor macOS 10.14, 10.13 and 10.12.

Windows and macOS users who are still running the above versions can try the Firefox ESR version, which will continue to be supported until September 2024.

The official release date for Firefox 116 and Firefox 115.1 ESR is August 1, 2023. Most browser installations will be automatically upgraded to new versions thanks to the built-in update system.
New features and improvements in Firefox 116:
Adjust the Ctrl-Shift-T key combination

In Firefox, the keyboard shortcut Ctrl-Shift-T reopens the last closed tab by default, or the previous session if there are no tabs to reopen.

And starting with Firefox 116, this keyboard shortcut now also supports reopening the browser window.

New logic to reopen the last closed tab or browser window, or the previous browsing session if there are no more tabs or windows to reopen.
Picture-in-picture support for the volume slider

Firefox’s picture-in-picture mode now supports a volume slider to make it easier to change the volume.

The Linux version supports only the Wayland option

The Linux Firefox 116 stable release allows users to choose between Wayland-only and X11-only.
