Motorola has launched a flagship phone in the U.S. market – the Moto Edge+ (2023) – with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 processor and 165Hz refresh rate display, and at a price significantly lower than competitors like the Pixel 7 Pro, Galaxy S23 Ultra and iPhone 14 Pro Max, among other competitors.

The Moto Edge+ (2023) appears to be a global version of the Moto Edge 40 Pro under a different name, though Motorola claims the Edge + has a massive 5,100mAh battery — a significant upgrade over the Edge 40 Pro’s 4,600mAh battery, meaning the Edge+ (2023) has the largest battery of any Motorola flagship phone.

The Moto Edge+ (2023) features a 6.67-inch 1080x2400px AMOLED screen with an Adaptive 165Hz refresh rate, HDR10+ and Dolby Vision technology. There’s also a 60MP selfie camera on the front with 4K video recording support.

The new phone packs a flagship camera combo on the back, with a 50-megapixel f / 1.8 main camera with a 1/1.55-inch sensor and support for optical stabilization. Next to that is a 12MP f/1.6 portrait camera with 2x zoom support and a 1/2.93-inch sensor. The third camera is a 50MP f / 2.2 1/2.76-inch autofocus ultra wide-angle lens with macro capability. The phone supports 68W wired charging (charger included), as well as 15W wireless charging and 5W wireless reverse charging. In comparison, the Moto Edge 40 Pro supports 125W wired charging.

Powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chip, the Moto Edge+ (2023) comes with 8GB of RAM and offers a choice of 256GB or 512GB of storage. Motorola promises to provide three years of system updates and four years of security updates.

Elsewhere, the Moto Edge+ (2023) uses Gorilla Glass Victus on the front and back, with an aluminum frame in the middle, and is also IP68 rated for dust and water resistance.

Motorola will sell the Moto Edge+ (2023) unlocked version of the phone on Amazon, Best Buy and Motorola.com starting May 25, or through carriers like Boost Mobile, Spectrum Mobile and Consumer Cellular for a starting price of $800 (The phone will be available in Canada on May 19 via Motorola’s website for $1,300 CAD (currently about RMB 6,595 ).
