Mat Piscatela said that in the next two years, the “digital-only release” of 3A masterpieces will be common. He believes that by 2028, the vast majority of games on the Xbox and PlayStation platforms will only have digital versions. The factory change will not be so “quick”, so an optional physical version of the game will still be available after 2028.

At present, a considerable number of game manufacturers have begun to “motivate” the physical version of the game in order to save money. The physical version of many games does not contain CDs, but only comes with “digital redemption codes”, which is regarded as “putting the cart before the horse” to some extent. And 3A masterpieces such as “Alan Wake 2” even announced that “the physical game version will be cut off”, which is embarrassing.
