January 18, 2013 – Apple’s next-generation Mac mini, due in 2024, will not feature an updated design, according to analyst Ming-Chi Kuo. In a tweet today, Kuo said that the “next new Mac mini” will have the same “form factor.

Apple’s latest 2023 Mac mini, with its M2 and M2 Pro chips, has the same design as the previous M1 and Intel models, with no major external design updates. The changes are all internal, with a faster M Series chip.

“The new M2 Pro brings professional-grade performance to Mac mini for the first time, allowing users to run performance-critical workflows in such a compact design that was previously unimaginable. Mac mini with M2 and M2 Pro delivers faster performance, more unified memory and advanced connectivity with up to two displays connected simultaneously on M2 models and up to three displays connected simultaneously on M2 Pro models. Combined with Studio Display and the Magic Control accessory, and the powerful and easy-to-use macOS Ventura, the Mac mini gives users an extraordinary desktop experience that is both more efficient and more creative. The new Mac mini is available for order beginning January 19 and will be available for purchase on Friday, February 3.

Rumors in 2021 and 2022 that Apple’s new Mac mini would have a plexiglass top and other refreshed looks did not materialize.

Apple is also introducing the Mac Studio in spring 2022, which is powered by Apple’s M1 Max and M1 Ultra chips, and will be updated to the M2 family of chips at some point.
