Microsoft’s official Xbox Wire blog released an update, announcing a new strategy for game screenshots and recording screens, and today officially effective.

Microsoft’s press release is as follows:

Starting today, the strategy for saving game screenshots and recorded screens on the Xbox network has been adjusted so that screenshots and recorded screens stored on the Xbox network will be deleted after 90 days.

In addition, we've added a new save method that makes it faster to back up your game screenshots and recordings to OneDrive or an external storage device of your choice.

OneDrive is Microsoft’s file hosting service, similar to Google Drive or Dropbox, where people pay for a storage plan that allows them to store documents, images, and other files.

The steps to store to OneDrive are as follows:

  • Press the “Xbox” button.
  • Open “My Games & Apps”.
  • Select “View All”
  • Select “Apps”
  • Click on “Captures”
  • Select “Tell me more” and you’ll see a pop-up screen where you can change your storage settings, and you can choose to automatically back up the player’s screenshots and recordings to OneDrive.
