Microsoft’s new Surface foldable phone patent approved

According to the latest patent published by The Hague Patent and Trademark Office, Microsoft obtained a new technology patent for Surface foldable phones, demonstrating the use of flexible screen substrates that can be deformed as the screen is folded.

Attached is a patent schematic here. Compared to the drop-shaped designs used by phone brands such as Samsung and OPPO, Microsoft’s folding solution is more like an onion, with a flat bottom, which transfers the folding pressure to both sides.

In the design description, Microsoft stated that this foldable device can be unfolded 180 degrees, and there will be no gap in the middle when it is closed, preventing unwanted foreign objects from entering the interior of the device.
