Beijing time, August 12 news, according to reports, earlier this week Microsoft had layoffs, and now its LinkedIn (LinkedIn) will also cut global event marketing team (events marketing).

A Link News spokesperson did not say exactly how many people were affected, only that the entire event marketing team was hit in its entirety. Affected employees can apply for positions on a newly formed internal team that is focused on creating virtual, hybrid, personal in-person experiences. A Link spokesperson said event marketing has changed significantly, and the new team will focus on creating new experiences around virtual, hybrid, personal in-person experiences that bring people together.

Chuck Jones, a senior event marketing manager on the global event marketing team, posted Wednesday that his entire team had been laid off and that fortunately, employees had plenty of internal positions to apply for.

Less than a month ago Microsoft reported earnings, with data showing Link’s revenue up 26 percent year-over-year and a record 850 million member interactions. The wave of layoffs has swept through the entire U.S. tech industry, and now it appears that Link is not immune. In early August Oracle announced layoffs that affected thousands of employees worldwide, as it looks to cut costs by $1 billion. Lyft, Robinhood, Hootsuite, and Rivian have also laid off employees, and Apple and Google have announced a slowdown in hiring.
