Microsoft has just released an update that enables higher resolution support when opening Xbox Cloud games through the browser on Linux and ChromeOS. Of course, these improvements also apply to Steam Deck.

Microsoft Xbox employees on Reddit said, “Hi everyone! We’ve just released a number of performance improvements for Xbox Cloud games for gamers playing through browsers on Linux and ChromeOS devices. You can expect higher resolutions and a smoother streaming experience.”

In addition to the increased resolution and improved cloud gaming experience, the update marks the end of an underlying technology shift, though he didn’t go into too many details.

“These changes also complete our long journey of upgrading the browser gaming experience to a different streaming technology. Now you should have a more consistent experience in the browser, no matter what device you’re using.”

Xbox Cloud Gaming is now available for devices such as phones, tablets, PCs and Xbox consoles. It’s also available on some Samsung TVs, as well as on Meta Quest, and users on Linux and ChromeOS can play their favorite games with it.
