Microsoft Windows Development Kit 2023 released: equipped with Snapdragon 8cx Gen 3

Microsoft officially announced Windows Dev Kit 2023 (Windows Development Kit 2023, also known as Project Volterra). This development kit enables developers to better develop native Arm applications based on hardware.

The new Windows Development Kit 2023 is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8cx Gen 3 processor with 32 GB of LPDDR4x memory and 512 GB of NVMe storage.

The device has multiple interfaces: built-in Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth 5.1, Ethernet, 3 USB-A and 2 USB-C, and a Mini-Display Port (HBR2 support), which can drive up to 3 external monitors, including 2 4K 60Hz monitors.

Microsoft Windows Development Kit 2023 measures 196 mm x 152 mm x 27.6 mm, the housing is made of 20% recycled ocean plastic, the overall black color, the power button, the start button and the UEFI button can be seen on the outside, the weight is 960g, and it runs Windows 11 Pro (Pro) system.

Microsoft Windows Development Kit 2023 is priced at $599.99 (about 4,362 yuan) and will be the first to be released in eight countries: China, Australia, Canada, France, Germany, Japan, the United Kingdom and the United States.

Microsoft said that toolchains such as Visual Studio 2022 will support Arm natively, and also committed to continue investing in Arm-native toolchains, building partnerships and collaborations to grow the ecosystem.

Microsoft revealed that it is working to bring Unity Player natively to the Windows Arm platform, and developers using the Unity game engine will be able to easily enable native performance for Windows Arm devices. More details on the timing will be shared later.

In addition, Microsoft will hold a virtual Arm Developer Summit on October 26, which will further announce the information of Windows Development Kit 2023.
