Microsoft today pushed out 22621.1095 and 22623.1095 updates for Windows 11 Beta users, bringing some new features and fixes.

  • Internal version 22623.1095 = New features introduced.
  • Internal release 22621.1095 = Disable new features by default.

Improvements and enhancements in 22621.1095 and 22623.1095

Start menu.

  • The search box design in the Start menu has been updated to have large rounded corners to match the design of the search box on the taskbar.

Improvements and enhancements in 22623.1095
General.

  • Moved Quick Assist out of Windows Tools and placed it directly in the “All Apps” list in the Start menu to make it easier to find.
  • Fixes in 22623.1095.

Taskbar and System Tray.

  • Fixed several issues that could cause the top half of the taskbar to be cropped.

Start Menu.

  • Fixes an issue where the Uninstall Application dialog box may not display correctly in the Start Menu in some cases, causing the button to be inaccessible.

Task Manager.

  • Fixed an issue that caused filtering by publisher name to not match correctly on the Processes page.
  • Fixed an issue that caused some services to not show up in the Services page after applying filters.
  • Fixed an issue that caused new processes to appear in the filter list when setting the filter to start.
  • Fixed an issue that some dialogs are not presented with the correct theme when applied from the Task Manager Settings page.
  • Fixed an issue that caused the data content area of the Processes page to blink once when applying theme changes in the Task Manager Settings page.
  • The “Launch Apps” page in Task Manager will now list apps as expected.
  • Fixed an issue that could cause a splash screen when opening Task Manager.
  • Task Manager will now explicitly state if there are no matching search results.
  • Fixed a Task Manager crash that could occur when trying to end certain processes.
  • Users can now set the focus to the search box by pressing CTRL + F.
  • Fixes in 22621.1095 and 22623.1095.

Search in the taskbar.

  • Reliability improvements have been made, some crashes have been fixed, and the performance of animations and transitions has been improved.
  • Fixed an issue that caused the search box on the taskbar to not render correctly and display visual items.
  • Fixed a layout issue that caused right-to-left display languages (e.g. Arabic) to appear.

Other fixes.

  • Changed the experience of the preview .NET Framework update. After installing this update, all future preview (optional) .NET Framework updates will be displayed under Windows Update > Advanced Options > Settings > Optional Updates “NET Framework updates will appear on Windows Update > Advanced Options > Settings > Optional Updates, allowing users to select which optional updates to install.
  • Fixed an issue affecting Windows Server 2022 Domain Controllers (DCs) that stopped responding when processing Lightweight Directory Access Protocol (LDAP) requests.
  • Fixed an issue that could occur when the Input Method Editor (IME) was active. The application could stop responding when the user was using the mouse and keyboard at the same time.
  • Fixed an issue affecting host.exe that would cause it to stop responding.
  • Fixed an issue affecting the speed of copying items from the network to the local computer. For some users, copying was slower than expected.
  • Fixed an issue affecting certain systems with firmware Trusted Platform Modules (TPM). The issue prevented users from setting up these systems with AutoPilot.
  • Fixed a resource conflict issue (called a deadlock) between two or more threads. This deadlock affected COM+ applications.
  • Fixed an issue affecting devices bound by Microsoft’s Exploit Protection Export Address Filter (EAF). Some applications would stop responding or fail to open, including Microsoft Office and Adobe Reader.
  • Fixed an issue affecting the search indexer .exe that would randomly prevent users from logging in or out.
  • Fixed an issue that could occur when converting or reconverting Japanese kanji using the Multi Byte Character Set (MBCS) application. The cursor may have moved to the wrong position when typing.
  • Fixed an issue affecting mstsc.exe. It stopped responding when connecting to remote applications and desktop connections.
  • Fixed an issue that could affect FindWindow() or FindWindowEx(), which could cause the wrong window handle to be returned.
  • Fixed an issue that affected finding image files using the search on the taskbar, which prevented users from opening them.
