Microsoft will stop Win10 in 2025, expected to boost new round of PC replacement

According to the latest statistical report released by market research agency IDC, it is estimated that global PC shipments in 2024 will be 261.4 million units, a year-on-year increase of 3.7%. That would be up from 259.6 million shipments in 2018, but still below 2019 levels.

IDC believes that the current PC industry is still facing many challenges, including the prolonged update cycle of the consumer market, enterprises reducing procurement budgets, education spending in many markets not yet rebounded, etc. Therefore, it is estimated that shipments in 2023 will be 252 million units, a year-on-year decrease of 1.37 billion %.

Jitesh Ubrani, research manager for mobile and consumer device trackers at IDC, said:

The PC field is still under a lot of pressure brought about by the economic retrograde, and consumer demand is in a "tepid" state.

In addition, challenged by other devices such as smartphones, game consoles, and tablets, the PC industry is expected to experience the largest decline in history in 2023.

Ryan Reith, group vice president of Worldwide Mobile and Consumer Device Trackers at IDC, said:

The popularization of technologies such as generative AI has become another important factor driving the development of the PC industry. In the foreseeable future, commercial PCs may usher in a new round of explosion.

Microsoft will stop the Win10 system in 2025, which is expected to further promote the development of the PC industry, both from a company and an individual perspective. It's clear that Apple sees an opportunity to continue growing in the commercial space, and we'll be watching Apple closely in the future.
