The Microsoft Surface Pro 9 and Surface Laptop 5 product lines are about to be updated, and the Surface Studio 3 has been spotted in FCC documents and may be unveiled at Microsoft’s showcase event on 12 October.

The Surface Studio 2 was released on October 2, 2018, almost four years ago. As you can see from the photos in the FCC document, the new machine appears to be in beta testing and looks almost identical to the Surface Studio 2 running Win11.

In addition, a new document released by the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) earlier this week details a mysterious Surface-branded product called the “Desktop PC” (C3K2043).

This is likely to be the new Surface Studio 3, as the Surface Go / Pro / Laptop / Book or even Duo all fall under the “portable computer” category in Microsoft’s FCC filing. Generally speaking, any device capable of wireless communication must be FCC certified, and the new Surface Studio is no exception.

The so-called Microsoft Surface Studio 3 has been certified by the FCC and passed its network and quality control tests before being sold in the US.

According to one of the documents, the so-called Surface Studio 3 uses an Intel Wi-Fi 6 compatible 802.11ax chip. The chip supports both 2.4Ghz and 5Ghz, which creates more available channels.

The next Surface Studio, codenamed Chehalis, is expected to arrive with the upcoming new Surface models and is also expected to have a new Surface keyboard and Surface Pen.
