Microsoft will end support for the Surface Pro 8 next year, but before then the model will continue to receive firmware updates from Microsoft. Microsoft recently pushed a January 2023 firmware update to the Surface Pro 8, mainly to improve security and optimize performance.
This firmware update does not contain any new features / new functionality. In addition, Surface Pro 8 users that they need to pay attention to the following points before upgrading the firmware.
You cannot uninstall or roll back to the previous version after upgrading the firmware.
Upgrading the firmware update will also synchronize some of the updates that were left behind in the middle of the update to ensure that the Surface Pro 8 remains up-to-date.
After installing the update, reboot your device to complete the installation process. To restart your device, select the Start button and then select Power > Restart.
Be sure to note that the latest firmware is rolling out to devices running Windows Update 20H2 or later as of October 10, 2020. In addition, you will get the latest firmware version in stages, which means that not all Surface Pro 8 devices will receive the update on the same date. It may take a week or so for Microsoft to open it up to everyone.
